i need to install both linux and xp.i do not know anything about linux.i know xp(almost completely).
which is better and easier
1.installing xp after linux 0r
2.installing linux after xp.
suggest a few key things that i need to do while installing linux

Well, the only way i've ever done it is on machines with windows already installed. Personally i've found it easiest as i want windows as the primary OS, and the windows bootloader is simple and works well for me.
You will need some partitioning software to make room for linux, unless you want to install to a second hard disk. Some distributions come with partitioning software of their own, but i really can't reccomend that based on my abysmal experiences with ubuntu, but if you want to go that route, be sure to have your windows system backed up!
Not much else i can offer other than to decide which distro you want, and let google be your friend to find you a walkthrough. Inevitably someone else will have done it already.
You may already have twigged i'm not much of a linux fan, so you won't get much advice from me if it wont work, especially knowing you have XP already there.

when ever he is offline he gets a bleeping sound in the brain meaning log in to fp and help some one !
