This might have been mentioned before not sure, but i think a option to create a voting poll for the forums would be good.

So if someone made a thread like this.. who is the best player from the 5

Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Player 5

you could then vote by clicking a little box by the options and at the top of the page it will show the results so far.

Would also help in Nicks post about the new us8 design

thats polls in general i like the idea of the players though. Be a bit embarrasing if you came last though lol

polls generally get hammered as a thread on here but as your a moderator, i bet it doesnt happen

spinner made a good point before- the forum does the same job as a poll only better. If you just have an option to click a, b, c, d or e then there is no way to add f (f being a different point of view.

No need to cap it just yet, you never know someone could think of another idea from your idea

I think polls would be great!

Have the five options, but have "f" at the bottom? When people click f, the poll extends where the person can write a set amount of words to explain the idea.
Some people sometimes may not post on the forum because they may not have anything to say, meaning an idea may get wrong negative/positive feedback. The poll would mean these people get to say what they agree/disagree with, while the people with their own ideas get to post their them.

I personally think polls area good idea it would simplify things...

If you wanted to decide what was the popular favourite would you rather have:

A. a jumble of posts
B. Straight clear statistics

As said in the posts linked, pols for fun purposes would be fine, but for "serious" things like deciding game feature they are pretty useless.

Well thought out posts on the other hand, help the process of developing ideas and judging peoples real feelings about things.

One of the forums i use at work has a polling option, but before anyone can vote, they have to have made a 250+ character post on the subject. Used that way, the statistics gained mean something and you have a background as to why they turned out the way they did.

So would that not work when debating for something such as a doubles tournament?

Just give moderators the option to reject a vote if someone posts 250+ characters which have nothing to do with the actual topic.

I may have underestimated how busy moderators are but its just a suggestion
