Is there any chance we can make it mandatory to fill in the age, sex and location when people sign up to the site.
I think it would be much better. Alot of the time a check peoples ages so i know if i am playing kids or adults.

Many times i have be playing someone and said hi to them and they have replied with name calling because they have looked at my age, can we please make it mandatory to fill this form in please.

Does anyone else feel the same as me.

I agree that it shouldn't really be an option, as you can lie about your age if you wanted to by putting an incorrect one in anyway.

I think that rather than putting in your age (therefore having to change it everytime you get a year older) you should have to input your date of birth, and then it will update automatically, and you wont be able to change it. This would reduce amounts of people playing around with their ages

No point really, since even if those fields were to be made mandatory, you still can't force people to enter correct data, nor do we have any way of knowing whether they are true or not.

We may not be able to tell if they are true but the majority of people will enter the right details.

So i still stand by what i said i think it should be made mandatory

Anyway, I don't mind either way and I don't think it's essential. Yes, people want to know each others age but people like confidentiality and don't want their age broadcast over the site and we should respect that. It's not a site where age etc is mandatory.

The fact is, if people want their details to be known, they can fill it in, if not, which is obviously desireable to many, then they can leave it blank which should be enough to let people know to be polite and not ask.

Gender, age and location do not bear any relevance to a players ability (or lack thereof!)

Well this site is full of kids, and i personally want to know weather im playin some1 my age or not. I understand that people may not want others to know their age, but i think it would be a good idea to make it mandatory.

Isn't there legal stipulations to this sort of subject.

Possibly the Data Protection Act or something may infringe this.

Wouldn't surprise me the slightest. Better in all respects to leave it voluntary imo - and I still fail to see the value of making it mandatory as long as the info has no qualifications of any kind anyway.

Some one could be 70 and playing this and i think they would get abused.

Back on topic, if it is madatory, I would have to fill in correct data!
I enter my correct age and sex, but the location is fun to play with!

If people follow my profile, then they know I come from all over the world!

I use a country with a nice flag. When I get bored of this one, I move onto a different flag. Yes, that means I am NOT from Namibia lol

But your not from there you could fall anyone lol.

people may feel insecure of their age or location,so have the right to not let other people know it....having it a option is fine the way it is

Remember section 3 of the terms of service, specifically : "You also agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service's registration form (such information being the "Registration Data") and (b) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or funkypool has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, funkypool has the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service (or any portion thereof)."

Making it mandatory would simply force those people who do not want to disclose their private details (which is rightly advised, especially for children/young people) to enter false information and therefore break the above terms.

The other option would be to make entry of these details mandatory, but have the option not to display them.

But then thats just a complicated way of getting what we already have

(as for data useage etc, section 6 pretty much covers that)

There's no point, firstly it's dangerous for young players.
Also they can just lie.

I think this is a bad idea because as pro_i_am said, if people are 70 and playing this game they could get abused and therefore leave the site and not recommend this for him/her friends.

Secondly, you can't force someone do fill a form out, if they want to do it they will do it out of thier free-will.

So i think this form should be optional and people who want to fill out a form will do it.

I dont agree because it would mean that it leaves younger kids open to adults who prey on young kids. if they dont want their age known then its their choice
