Recently got a laptop with a wireless lan card

(lan card shown in image below)


On the side of the laptop is where you insert the card but when i insert it it makes a double bleep which makes me think the machine thinks i am taking it out when i am puting it in and there is no green light to say it is on. The card is not bent or anything like that when i first had it there was no problem.

So basically i'm stuck for what to do.

Sounds like you need to set it up to me. Installed the CD's with it? I don't know much with this. Internet games and software is my strongpoint...oh and girls

I assume from what you say that it used to work fine?

If so, and assuming XP, i suggest going to the Device Manager (Windows Key+Break, Hardware Tab, Click Device Manager button) and finding the device, then checking its properties.

You then also have the option of updating the driver, or rolling back.

If neither of these work, try uninstalling it altogether, removing it, rebooting, shutting down (boring i know) inserting card, then rebooting.

If you still have no luck, then perhaps try it in another laptop to check the card isnt knackered?

How i typed it above was not the case i rebooted my laptop saturday 14th june is when i purchased the laptop and the ligt sundunly appered but i was still have trouble 3 hours late argh i give up so i ring a I.T technician he said ok be round for tommorow 6:00 pm (today) but at 5 PM I thought i'll try again which i did a\nd now it was asking for a WEP code so i looked through all the paper work and i seen A7....... so i thought i would type that in and it worked !
