Hello people i looked and couldnt find a guitar thread so i decided to make this one.

I've been playing alot of air guitar recently (very well may i add) and i've decided that i want to learn how to play an actual guitar.

I was just looking for some general advice like which guitar is good to learn on?

How much should i expect to pay for a decent guitar?

And is it difficult to learn?

I know am not gonna be the next hendrix but i would like to learn afew cords for my own enjoyment more than anything else really.

Anyway cheers for reading this i know its kinda long but any advice or tips would be good thanks.

there is a thread in fun links or fun and games about learning guitar over the net. its kinda old but if you do a search for guitar you should find it. a few months back i think it was.

Im not much of a guitar person but id imagine you can pick a half decent one up fairly cheap- ebay is always good....

As with anything it wont be difficult to learn if you put the practice in and get a good tutor.

Hey da_chump i play guitar, the best guitar to start of i'd say is a fender, nice and small, light you can sit down and play (or stand up if your feeling confident).

Get a strat, i have one.


Best way to learn is to teach yourself.
Get some tabs, build up your speed and you will be playing some of your fave tunes. (if you can get tabs for them of course)

you are better off startin wif an acoustic frst then gettin an electric 1

I agree, start off with an acoustic first, thats what I did and taught myself, which is the best way really. Persistance is the key to learning it.

Try www.ultimate-guitar.com for tabs.

get a cheap second hand one and see if you really like it, then if you do, invest in a decent one like an ibanez, yamaha, fender or gibson all are good depends on personal choice.

I'm going onto the town this weekend to get a guitar.

I'm reading all the information i can get on the net just now. My freinds dad say's he'll give me some lessons. And i think am gonna get a tutor if i like it.
