However, the server time seems to be getting lazy again, it now thinks it's 9:20 when really it's 9:24.
Is there a reason why it keeps losing its time? Funkysnooker's time seems to be fine though

When you log in at 8.00 PM
It says you last logged in at 19:54PM

This problem has been ongoing for months. At 1 point a few months back it was about 10 minutes slow. I think this was already mentioned on a previous thread but I am just too lazy to be bothered looking for it.

I might have missed something but what importance has the server time got to the game?

Well apart from the tournaments being called the 9am 9 ball and the 10 am 8 ball tournaments and everyone logging in to play for them having to hang about I guess!!!!

Well, the tournaments don't start on time, it's not so bad at the moment, but all I wanted to do was mention that it seems to be getting worse again.

A month or so ago (as mentioned above) the server time was over 10 minutes slow.

Well yeah but 4 mins? 10 mins, then reason to complain. I'm usually late to log in and enter anyway, so I'd like for it stay the same!

TOP TIP:- log on earlier, usually works!

I remember, just before christmas, tournament entries would be at about 09:28 ish.

Which meant they wouldnt start till 09:38.

The far worse issue was when the clock was actually correct for a while - after everyone had gotten used to the tournies starting 10 mins later than announced... Suddenly they no longer were, I kept forgetting and missed several

It's quite common for computer clocks to drift quite a bit unless synched with a reliable source now and then.

Most servers and operating systems handles this problem by synchronizing with either a designated computer in the network (which may very well also be wrong, but at least they are all the same) or by a time server on the Internet (which in turn is typically synched with a proper, reliable source like an atomic clock or similar)

A GPS is a good example of a stable and accurate clock source (since the entire system is based on, and entirely dependant on an accurate clock... the distance to any given satellite is the data age of the signals received from it)

And sigh.. don't get me started on explaining technical stuff lol - I tend to get carried away rather easily
