there should be a button to reset the spin on the white ball to none again!
you can move it close to the middle but if your coming off a cussion and its even a little bit off centre, the white will change course by quite a way.
just lost a game like this.... potting an easy ball over the pocket coming off the cussion first
but id put spin on the ball cause i was going to go for a different ball, but then went for the 1 over the pocket instead. i tried to set the spin to none again but it must have been slightly off cause the white had a mind of its own.

Good idea and should be a quick thing to implement too, although I must admit I've never had problems with this myself... Then again that's not so surprising I guess, the scenario is rare in the first place, AND I'm probably not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to detecting minute levels of spin on a shot like that.
Same cases are blatant by all means, but if you see anything significant from just a pixel offset on the aiming point, that sound more like a bug to me.

pointless dont put spin if u dont need it.. think first

Read the context - you choose a shot, then decide differently.
Changing your mind isn't a mistake - it's inevitable and bound to happen now and then.

then think harder!
if everything is coming in that is ment to be...it will be jst another little distraction....
a little bit of spin (a millimetre off center) surley could not change a match.

then go on the practice table...........place the white ball on the line...........change the spin by a milimetere or so....... the hit the ball up the line and see the difference.
now imagine this change for the full legnth of the table.....probably going to miss the ball all together and give 2 shots away!
and as for thinking harder.......not that simple mate....there are time limits!

Above posts aside (i never read them):
If you centered the spin circle in ROUGHLY the middle, it shouldn't make a huge bit of difference to your shot, unless you are a perfectionist.

OK, i see where your coming from...(no where)
This is just pointless.
Its your mistake live with.
Everything is meant to be perfect.
So what if you put the wrong spin?
just go for another way around it.
if your in a speed tournament and you put wrong spin your gonna waste loads of time just getting the right spin and you'll miss 75% of your shots that way.
If this did come into the game it would just waste more time than it already is!
Edit: you might as well have a aimer as well so you'll never miss a shot again!

dave- try it out- it does make a hell of a lot of difference just being mms off centre.
firewire- im sure you can find another way round it as your such an amazing player but some people wouldnt be able to and so this would be perfect for them.

How would it waste more time if you could click reset spin :S
i dont think anybody is asking for an aimer either bud, just the chance to reset the spin which is nothing like an aimer- your sarcasm would be funny if you hadnt completely missed the point

On the contrary, this is only a topic that applies to those who are very adept at using spin, down to minute amounts.
The examle yorkie gave illustrates pretty strongly just how much impact a single pixel off center on the cueball does make.
As I wrote earlier, I've never had any issues with this myself, but that's not because it isn't an issue at all. It's just because I use spin on a slightly less sophisticated and precise level than some of the best players do.
And for all of you, please ask yourself the following question before opposing ideas from others:
1. Is this something I *have* to use myself and that will affect MY experience in the game if I don't want it to?
Since the answer to that is always "no" for any feature that is voluntary to use, you have really no reason in the world to be opposed to having it implemented either.
People really should try to be better at separating what you are indifferent to vs. what you are opposed to. The two are NOT one and the same thing.
