You don't actually realize how pointless GCSEs are until you've left high school... and thats coming from somebody who got 8 C's.

Lewis is right. GCSE's are important until you go to college, and a levels until your at uni.

Bang on. 3 A*s, 5 As and 1.5 Bs got me no further than 5 Cs would have done... it just meant the idiots at college kept trying to pressure me into their stupid gifted & talented programme.
Depressing.
Depressing.

Wow, I was a member of that gifted and talented thing. I did nothing but I got a free key ring and it worked wonders on by UCAS application. Saxophone, drugs and rock n roll soon took over and it's all down hill from now.

I did 2 GCSE's a year early - came out with 2 B's. There were a fair few in my year, about 15-20 I think.

I know it feels like GCSEs are a waste of time, and to a point if your doing a vocational course, they are!
But they get you ready for A levels, which in turn mean nothing after starting your degree. And then once you've got your degree and been working in your chosen field for 7 years or so, your degree means nothing!
(Unless you're choosing to do a masters/phd ect cause then you need (I think) a 2:1 at the very least)
All becomes relative as you go on......

You can go to College and start a BTEC diploma which is the equivalent of 2 A-levels with just 2 D's...
Then after that course you can start the proper A-levels. Only takes a year longer than it would with somebody with 5 Cs +.
So GCSES aren't important at all, its a joke anyway GCSEs are so easy, I got 8 cs without doing any work in class, any work out of class and just doing the bare minimum required for the coursework.
