I think crowd pressure means they favour home teams when they have to make big decisions... and I also think that it just gets noticed/publicised more when this happens with big teams.

Everything usually evens out over the course of a season.

I ref a different sport and trust me m8, no good referee or umpire will ever favor a bigger club.

Here is a simple test many referee and umpire associations do every year.

You pick a club who is having an equal win loss ratio. You put in a referee with that club on a weekend. If that team loses, the team is likeley going to put it on the ref.

The next week you put the SAME ref on for the same team but this time the team WINS. 99.9% of the time, the team will all the sudden LIKE the referee or umpire (depends on which sport)

The fans have the same reactions.

By the looks of it, you go for a soccer team that is stuggling at the moment; so you are obviously going to blame half of your teams woes on the offical, not the quality of your players, coaches and so on.

Thats where you are wrong my friend
