You've got to press, press, press! Press the players into playing - after all they did sign up - post regularly on the thread to keep it alive, let the participants (or so-called participants ) know of their games to be played either on the forum or by a message or both, and threaten sanctions against those who don't, appropriate to the level of failure to play and stage of the competition. I once wound up a tournament at the semi-final stage cos no-one was bothered to play (http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=11197). And there's another one going the same way (http://www.funkypool.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=12095) despite radical action being taken.

Ultimately however, it is always always always the players' fault for not playing their games, that's what it boils down to and no-one can disagree with me. Regarding this tournament, I have no problem bearing some of the blame regarding this tournament's failure (so far) to get completed.
