I think although it would be nice to see this introduced imagine the complexity of shifting 100000+ users everytime a player gets deleted.

Also other issues arise such as do we keep the banned users included in this user counter?

Then again there is the option of just keeping the number given when the account was created...

lol would just be decoration and bragging rights i suppose, and im sure nick knows who joined and when they joined and they could be put in order, and banned users and deleted users would still count.
