As i run a pc support forum myself 1 of the most common problems my members post is that there pc randomly reboots on error so i put togather a little tutorial to reslove this problem.
i throught i would post it here as it might be of some use?
( This tutorial will only work on a windows xp operating system )
By default XP is set to restart at a serious system failure, sometimes causing the system to be caught in an infinite and annoying loop.
Change the default setting now before you need to by;
Clicking Start>Control Panel>System.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.
Remove the tick from the box next to Automatically Restart under System Failure.
Click OK.
The next time you have a serious system failure rather than reboot, your PC should present you with a blue screen of death with an error message.

You can also just type "shutdown -a" in start>run
Another thing that annoys some people (me included) is the computer rebooting after updating, especially if you set it to update during the night and leave a long process running..
To disable this go to Start>run and type in "gpedit.msc"
Go to Administrative Templates> Windows Components> Windows Update in the tree in the left pane, then double-click on the "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations" item in the right pane.
Set this to "Enabled", click OK and you're done!

I hate when you have downloaded updates from microsoft and shuts-down your computer or when it says please restart the computer every 10 mins!
