There has been a lot of discussion about players who reset their stats and perhaps give a false impression of their ability to the unsuspecting opponent.

We have talked about perhaps calling them "reset newbie" or something.

I have another (two-part) suggestion:

It would be a nice feature, as suggested before, to show a player's "highest ever rank". This would be quite nice anyway, so that when you have had a bad run, you can feel comforted that even though you are now 798 you have been as high as 865 (say) when you were on good form.

The nice part is that when a player resets, why dont we LEAVE the highest ever rank setting 'un-reset' so that we can all see that this newbie with a rank of 680 was once 923, and thus can draw our own conclusions about his ability and whether or not we want to play him (or her..sorry)?

So:

Nick, how about a 'highest ever rank' display, that does not get reset?

(stolen from brassraptor on snooker lol v gd idea methinks)

Same ideas have been discussed many times, but as always, it's reappearance only goes to show it's wanted.

The newbie idea that was suggested last time was "Nebie (R2)" with the number denoting the number of times the user had reset.

Having users reset situation made sticky on thier events page was also a good idea.

Along with that permanent overall rank a graphical representation was suggested, thus showing how users rank was gained/lost and the highest and lowest they had been, and resets would be clear.

A 'highest-ever-rank' stat has also been suggested on pool before madmikealsation, and I totally, totally agree with you.

To add to the benefits you've mentioned, it'd stop the old habit of reaching pro in one discipline and then trying to reach pro in all three before losing pro in the others (which virtually everyone tries at some point, including me).

The very point of having reached pro is enough. If it's on your record, you've no need to stay there, so the field opens up.

Glad you brought that back up.
