How about some form of 'mvp' type award - either player of the day, player of the week, player of the month or whatever??

Not sure how it would be calculated but it might give a chance for a whole new set of people to get recognition - and give everyone something else to aim for. Perhaps a mix of tournament performances, %ge of games won and increases gained in ranking points during the period.

Just an idea. Apologies if this has been brought up before but I havent read all the old threads.

sounds abit tricky to work out who would get the award though.

maybe you could do several awards, such as most rank gained, most tourney wins, etc

Possibly - however the benefit to being a general award is to open it up to people who play all types of all games rather than, say, the person who wins the most tournaments etc. I would like to see everyone have a reasonably equal shot at winning it if it could be brought in.

Just thought them threads may help with your querie and answer any questions.I like the idea of the "players player award"could give people that urge to go for that number 1 spot or try to`play better than they do.
Would be nice to see on your profile that you was awarded player of the week/month etc on 15/2/08

Nah we all do an amazing job anyway.

I like this idea, just difficult to sort of plant into the gameflow.

is good idea maybe you could get a certain amount of points for each stage you get in a tourny, golden breaks, run outs and 7ballers etc as well as ranked games
eg/

madmiketyson

27/06/07

7ballers : 2
(2points)
run outs : 1
(1point)
golden breaks: 2
(2points)
ranked games won / lost
26-6 (20 points)
tournament points
20 points

eg 1st round half a point
2nd round 1 point
3 rd round 2 points
4th round 3 points and so on

whoever had the most points in total at end of day would be mvp

i realise that this would be a really big upgrade tho lol just an idea

Yeah mike that is the sort of thing i had in mind - but i realise it would not be easy to introduce.
