Wolvesdude - you have been warned time and time again. Another deliberate breach of forum rules will land you a posting revoke.
It is VERY simple.. Read the forum posting rules before posting.

Back to (i think) the topic;
dark_cloud is exactly right - people cannot agree with or debate your suggestions with you if they can't understand them!
The stats reset feature was introduced to prevent people from deleting/recreating which is undesireable in many ways.
Some people like the challenge of best results out of 100 etc, and are quite entitled to play the game as they choose.
Remember each time your scores are reset is recorded in your history, so its easy to see what a users record is.
The avoidance of nonsense "perfect" stats is why ALL stats must be reset.
There have been many detailed threads on this subect. a quick forum search will give you plenty of reading material.

ok then, will stop using quick txt as much, just think reseting stats is bit silly because it takes fun out of genuily gettin a high score, your cheating urself, reseting to become a newbie, then to take points of other newbies to et a higher score is just nuts in my opinion, if people enjoy result results out of a 100 maybe there should be that type of tourny or summit lol

just bringing a old thread up here. I think the reset button should stay ..but i think they should get rid of the delete button, there are to many members deleting there account and coming back as a different member name, more than once!!!
It also makes the forum look messy.
What do others think on this, do we need the delete button??
**hides from the serial deleters**

I've long been keen on removing the delete option.
I wont repeat it in detail again but in short my suggestion was :
Change delete to deactivate. Users need a method of removing their details from the server, so by deactivating the account the only thing left would be username and password.
Deactivated accounts wouldnt be included in stat tables etc, and on forums it would say spinner(deactivated)
After a period of time, say 6 months, if the user hasnt change their mind an logged in, the account would auto delete and free up the name again.
Combine this with auto-deleting accounts unused for a year or so, and you have a nice neat system.

Both delete and reset stats should be completely removed.
While it obviously wont prevent people from making new accounts, and while IP addresses in no way can or should be used to identify a person (keep in mind that companies/schools/dorms etc may very well have hundreds of people accessing the net through a single visible IP address), it might just help to reduce the number of elite players running ranks in the 600s.

It should be up to the individual as to whether they want to reset their stats or delete their account.
I agree with what spinner says - if you havent logged in for a given period of time then I think the account should be automatically deleted.

You are now looking at a man who hates the delete button. I hate leaving threads also, the ugly sister of the delete button.
Yes, the delete button should be gone. And i think the reset button is great.
Members though, do complain about not being able to reset one particular game, well if you don't like your stats on one game...sacrifice it for your other ones then.
ADDITION: Yes spinner, your idea is a cracker when you narrow it down to people who are leaving, but (to the surprise) don't. This way the forums won't be all dirty.
Look at it from my perspective, and you will get the drift.

And what legitimate reason would anyone have for wanting to reset stats anyways?
I may very well be overlooking perfectly good reasons here, but as far as I can see, the only real reason to do so would be to ruin other players' stats by playing at an artificially low rank yourself.
At the very least, a voluntary stat reset should prevent you from ever playing ranked games on that account again.

Thats exactly what i used to think!
However, many people like to play races to 100 games, races from 765 to pro rank to see how few games it takes them, etc etc.
These people have every right to enjoy the site as they want to.
Until the reset feature was introduced (remember this is a very recent update) these people had no choice but to delete their account, and recreate it.
This led to messy forums, people losing their usernames, and there was no way of knowing whether your opponent was a "real" newbie or not.
I'm always surprised at the number of people who worry about losing rank to newbies who aren't really new.
The "newbie adjustment" means you would lose far more to an adept player for the most part. So, in fact, playing newbies is a safe way of keeping rank, not the other way round.
However, for those who are concerned, the reset feature means they can see if a user has reset, and what score they reset from.
If we dont have a reset option, and we cant let users delete, we will simply have thousands of new accounts created, used for a bit, then abandoned.

That's your opinion :)
Even with the newbie adjustment, resetting stats when you play on a real level well into the 800s is a failsafe way to seriously, and artificially hurt the rank of other players.
The rank adjustment balance is all based around people playing on or about the rank representing their real skill level. Resetting and playing ranked games with a rank that is significantly lower than your real skill defeats the entire purpose and thought behind the ranking balance in the first place....
Imagine what would happen to *your* rank if I were to reset and still win 50/50 against you... The newbie adjustment would help you a bit, but your rank would still plummet - without you playing in a way to deserve it.

In game too, or just on the boards?
It pretty much covers it anyways tho, I always check the stat pages of players I play, then again the same info would definitely been nice to have in game as well.
As for the delete vs. reset issue, I agree entirely. Deleting + rerolling is far worse.
Another side effect of allowing stat resets is that regardless of what one might feel about the issue itself, it does contribute to players being very wary of playing low rank players - it's quite simply risky as hell. Which in turn hurts the REAL low rank players, by making it hard or impossible to get matches against higher ranked players at all.
