i don't know if this is possible BUT how about a little help for the mods.

when there is no mods online and people are constantly swearing in the chat rooms etc what if the member or guest only had 3 chances.

What i mean by this, is if there is a system on the site that picks up swear words and only allows you 3 chances. If you use up your 3 chances, you get booted for a number of days or even a ban?!

The 3 chances would be swearing or racism etc and would like pick out key words

i don't know if its possible but it would certainly help moderate the site and give the hard working mods a little break..

just a thought

This is how things work for guests and it has been considered for members too.

I personally think its a good idea. Anyone can slip up once but theres no excuse for multiple cases.

Hmmmm, i understand in a chat room you don't want this kind of language, but what if you are in a private room with friends, does it mean you'll be booted for using naughty words?

What about for in the cases where someone isn't swearing, but still being abusive to another uses then people can select to 'boot' that user. Then if the user gets say a boot from 5 different users, they are booted from the room?

It's a good idea I guess... I think instead of doing that, the server should automatically pick up the names of people who have been offensive and been using bad language and then when a moderator logs in he/she should recieve the names of those people and then they can then be given warning... Thoughts?

I think the current system works good enough myself. Funkypool is getting more and more moderators and now whenever i'm on there is normally a mod on. In fact i can't place the last time i was on-line and a mod wasn't, which is great considering 6 months ago the chat rooms had become excessivley abusive and it was hard to catch a mod on-line!

So well done Funkypool!

There is certainly much better coverage now.

And to your previous point 1_eye - I would only see this necessary in public chatrooms.

has someone left a hoover on???

to be honest my idea was directed at chat rooms mainly not in the games or pm boxes.... but i suppose it would be a good idea for in games for example tournaments?!

I saw a similar thread over on snooker. Different idea, but same principle:

http://www.funkysnooker.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=2007

Both ideas sound good, although the increasing number of moderators on this site is helping as well. It will all come down to which idea (if any) is the easiest to implement and run, and which is most efficient .

Not a bad idea at all, although if people are swearing in a tournement you can turn the chat log of. However still a good idea.

another good idea.. turning chat log off... so you can't even see the chat.... brilliant.. what if you had options to turn chat on and off for specific games if you wanted to?

If you press F11 I think the chat log dissapears, althought it might be F12, works on my pc!

*Shouts spinner*

EDIT: Just checked it and it seems I lied. Is there a way you can surpress the chat log?

If not, would this be enabled?

You could also put the whole room on ignore, however this would take time, and you'd end up with loads of people on your ignore list!

Haha i wondered what you were on about there 1_eye!

There have been many discussions about the chat window in-game.

Personally i'd like to see a similar option to the supress entry/exit mesages made for in game chat.

That way you would only see results and moderator/game announcements.

A simple work around at the moment is to ignore PM's, and lower the game window so the chat box is hidden off the bottom of the screen.

Very good idea but instead of all users in the chat room filling up on your ignore list, there could just be a simple option called "ignore chat room", basically, what would happen is anyone who enters the room, you won't get the messages including the people already in the room, this would be a process without anyone going on your ignore list, just ignoring the chat room as a whole and like spinner said, just getting the moderator/game announcements
