Well, yet again after trying to accept an invite FireFox closed on me entirely. Had this problem about four or five times now.
Is this a known issue?
Or is my computer just diseased/up to mischief?
Literally, no warning all FireFox and Java screens dissapear. The system seems to be pretty stable up to and during that point as well.
Your thoughts?
Oh, and no I will not use IE.

Tempted to give Opera a go.
Might have a nose and see what a few other people reccomend.
But yeah, I was just asking if anyone else has this problem really.

This is just a common Firefox problem. You will probably find it's still running in the background if you open up task manager.

Opera is fine but does have similar rendering problems to those Firefox has, but with much better security.

Maxathon and Avant both use IE's rendering so should produce fewer garbled pages.

Netscape is, well, there, but prepare for a lot of signing up if you decide to go for that!

At the end of the day, there is no other browser close to IE for stability and especially security, but you've already made your feelings clear there

Well, firefox is simply the best browser currently available and was declared so in PCworld 100 best producst awards 2007 too. I would suggest you to upgrade your firefox version if you haven't done so, or change your java virtual machine. I have been using firefox and it works much better compared to IE, opera, etc in terms of loading of applets, system load , etc.

Just a shame it doesn't diplay those items properly and crashes all the time

I should point out that my views are based on my own use both personally and at work, where firefox has had to be banned due to its lack of reliability and security issues.

Simple thing is, try them all, and use whichever one works best for you!

The background process closes as well spinner, I'm in the habit of leaving task manager on the desktop at all times now just to keep a tab on it all.

PcWorld? The High street chain? Review? Don't trust it after various issues with a system I bought from them.

Everything on my system is updated as soon as new drivers etc. are available. However, IMO the older version of FF was actually a bit better...

The only reason I won't use IE is that it crashed constantly and I didn't really like the features or layout of it. Open FireFox, press four buttons maybe and everything is there. Its only developed the crashing habit in the last couple of weeks. Its the only issue I've had so far and its just more of an annoyance than anything.
Cheers guys.

lol. But i never had such problems as claimed by mozilla with any version of firefox. gone are the old days of poor IE. btw you can try out the following:

On Windows, start using the "Safe Mode" shortcut created in your Start menu or by running firefox.exe -safe-mode. On Linux, start with ./firefox -safe-mode and on Mac OS X, run:

cd /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/
./firefox-bin -safe-mode

I've heard lots of horror stories about version 2 of FF, and i simply never got it to work wheni tried it myself, and work stopped developing compatible pages, just too much hassle.

You could always install an old version of FF, assuming you can turn off the awful auto-update thing.

Funny how different people have different experiences tho, personally i've used IE7 since Beta 2 and never (touch wood) had a crash yet.

The biggest thing IE has over other browsers is a tabbed browsing system that actually works. I open IE, press nothing, and everything is there!

You should try using Firefox simply to use funkypool (not using other websites as implied above) - if it happens again this will show that the cause was related to firefox on this site.

If a crash occurs at this point then the main suspect would be your Java plug-in. In which case please give your Java details.

We reccommend IE6, IE7 or Firefox 2 on Windows XP or later. However this site is standard compliant so, in theory, will work on any standard compliant setup.

Next time I get a quiet period on the other places I use I'll have a go with only FP open. Cheers Nick.
