someone just suggested to me as i had really bad lag and needed to reboot but i couldn't because of tourny that there should be a pause button. If both players agreed the game could be paused and allow the player who needed to, to reboot. Then you could continue after your reboot. I think its a great idea- thoughts anybody?

good idea in thought but the tourny would have to wait on you to get back, which in some cases depending on your computer could take forever. but if the tourny continued while u were on "pause" then when u got back you may be unfairly advanced further then you would have gotten had u not "paused" i see where ur comming from tho and how it can be annoying i just dont think its resonable, sorry lol

surely if your on pause and dont get back in time you will both be dq because your game would not be finished. like you said dr fedx the torny can not wait for players on pause to many tornys could over lap

I agree with dr fedx and adidas

There's a good possibility that the time wasted rebooting etc would prevent you from finishing the round in time. Then both you and your opponent get disqualified, which seems pretty unfair on the player who had to wait.

unless the player who was still online went through if you werent back in time or didnt manage to finish the game. I know it has its flaws but there must be some way of being able to pause. A reboot takes me 3 minutes tops and if my computer was lagging that bad at the start of the game and my opponent agreed surely it could be paused for say up to 5 minutes. If you werent back then you are disqualified nd if you dont finish in time the person who rebooted still gets dqd and your opponent goes through?

Why do you think that warrior?
You might want to make your posts more constructive in future.
I don't think it can work really. It'll just get abused, another way to distract a player perhaps. Its sad, but it'll be used that way just like pm's.

I think this feature would be abused more than used properly. It would probably cause problems in tournaments as well, as dr_fedx and martin explained.

It'd be useful between friends. But nevermind. I can put up with a few random penalties.

ok then coming bak to the first quate i dont think it would be a good idea to put a opause button there because you could pause it and not come bak it ill also be anoyin to the opponent they could be in a rush

I'll just slip in here that in the literally years i've been working on lag issues, i've never, nor can think of, any situation where rebooting your computer could help.

What kind of lag were you getting? Jittery gameplay (usually appears to be caused by adverts), network delays (counter gets to zero, stays there, then several shots take place at once) or simple stopping responding issues?

well i have a wireless connection and sometimes it just slows down for no reason. I have a full signal and no other programs running but it just slows down. I get not responding coming up and then several shots taken at once and jittery gameplay lol. For me all i have to is reboot my computer and it stops happening. MAybe its just me in which case obviously it is not worth implementing but i thought it would be the case for more people than just me.

Have you tried right-clicking the wireless connection icon in the taskbar and selecting "repair"?

I like a challenge

I take it it's slowing he whole machine down. That makes me think it's something else thats causing the problem.

I'll assume you've tried all the usual things, checked for malware etc.

What it could be is automatic updates kicking in in the background. Changing them to inform not download could cure it.

could it be anything to do with my music? i have only had net since february and i have loads of music. It is all split into folders for genre and then artists then albums. But since i got net it keeps moving things around and renaming files and folders etc. my cousin has mentioned that is auto updates downloading but we dont know how to stop it. ???

Ok. Regarding music, if you have any downloading software make sure it's not running at the same time as Funkypool.

For auto updates, got to control panel, automatic updats and select the "Notify me but don't download or install" option, and click Apply.

This means you just get a message telling you when updates are due, and you can decide when to download hem (when not playing pool).

As for malware, thats a name to cover spyware, viruses etc. I'll assume you have a virus scanner, but you can also get windows defender from microsoft to safeguard against everything else. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en

Whatever you do stay away from an often reccomended program, Ad-Aware. it is malware itself and severly impairs performance.

Hope that helps!
